From 7 to 10 September, Shanghai hosted the 17th Pujiang Innovation Forum, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious innovation events. The event, which consisted of several thematic forums and trade exhibitions, brought together key players in China’s innovation ecosystem, government officials, innovators and academic researchers from around the world. In particular, it attracted over 300 participants, with nearly 40 percent representing 40 different countries and regions including Hungary, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan. Hungary held the distinction of being the guest of honor at this year’s forum, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties with China. To that end, a so called China-Hungary Science Innovation Day was launched as part of the event.

The China-Hungary Science Innovation Day featured diverse activities, including a China-Hungary sub-forum and the “Smart Hungary” science and technology project roadshow. The China-Hungary sub-forum focused on medical and health innovation, showcasing scientific research capabilities and exploring cooperation between Chinese and Western medicine.

One of the Hungarian researchers who were given the opportunity to present at this high-level event was Prof. Andras Dinnyes on behalf of BioTalentum Ltd. In his talk, he gave an insight into the many EU-funded and national projects BioTalentum is involved in, both as participant and as coordinator. He emphasized the importance of the IPCEI MED4Cure CARDIABETTER project, which offers regenerative medicine therapy for the cure of Type 1 diabetes and heart failure.

Apart from his presentation, Prof. Dinnyés gave an exclusive interview to Shanghai Daily, in which he reflected on his two-decade-long partnership with China. For the interview, see LINK.
